Storm Damage Notices for January, 2012

The following is what is known at present about damage to the
various CVC walks caused by the January 2012 snow, ice, and wind storms.

Olympia Evergreen State College:

The walk was done Saturday 1/28/2012. The developed portions of the Evergreen Campus have been pretty well cleaned up as far as walking obstacles go, as have the paved roads. A snowbank prevents circling the longhouse. The trails in the woods have significant amounts of downed branches, and entire trees, in many places. These may require a "climbing-over-or-under" effort, but no trail is blocked completely. It is a good deal harder to find the correct path from the head of the beach trail in Parking Lot F to the house on the beach than normal, but the landmarks (bridge, treehouse, etc.) are all still present as far as we could see.

Olympia Woodard Bay:

As of February 7, 2012 the Woodard Bay walk has been restored to its normal condition.

Tumwater Historic Parks:

As of February 14, 2012 Watershed Park and Trillium Park have been reopened by the City of Olympia. It should now be possible to do this walk.

Scattercreek Wildlife Area:

The North Unit at Scattercreek last weekend (1/28-29/2012). The road through the woods is passable but with plenty of climbing over and scootching under fallen trees.
