Event: Hoodsport Staircase Rapids Walk

ESVA Challenges: Strolling Along The Rivers, 39 Counties Second Edition (Mason)

AVA Sanction#/Distance/Rating: 1125682 - 2024 / Y2893 - 10K with 5K option (both rated 2C)

Description: This route follows the swiftly moving water of the North Fork Skokomish River as it thunders over a series of boulder-strewn cascades. The surrounding old-growth forest provides a beautiful background for the hike.

Start/Finish Times: July 1 - September 30 - Dawn to four hours before Dusk.

Accessibility/Amenities: Not possible for strollers and wheelchairs. Pets are not allowed. Restrooms are at the start point.

Registration: This event has both an Online Start Box (OSB) and a Physical Start Box (PSB). You may register using either of these, but please complete the walk using the same method used to register to receive proper credit.

To register using the OSB, go to AVA Login and follow the prompts.

To register using the PSB, follow the directions below:

Start/End Location: Fred Meyer, 301 E Wallace Kneeland Blvd, Shelton

Driving Directions: From Hwy 101 N: Take the Wallace Kneeland exit and turn right onto Wallace Kneeland. At the second light, turn right into the Fred Meyer parking lot. From Hwy 101 S: Take the Wallace Kneeland exit and follow the curve around until it becomes Wallace Kneeland. At the second light, turn right into the Fred Meyer parking lot. Ask for the walk box at the customer service counter.

Parking: A National Park or America the Beautiful pass is required for parking at the walk start point.
