CVC Seasonal Event - Montesano and Lake Sylvia Walk
Event: Montesano and Lake Sylvia Walk (Seasonal) ESVA Challenges: Grays Harbor County, All Clubs, City Parks, Forests, Clock Towers, Post Offices AVA Special Programs: Firehouses (15K), Liberty Bell Replicas AVA Sanction#/Distance/Rating: 91831 2012/Y1216 12K and 15K options, both rated 3C Dates: May 1 to September 30 (This walk will be VERY muddy during the rainy season, and the state park may be closed). Description: The walk goes through a bit of Montesano, up to the historic Grays Harbor County Courthouse (spectacular murals, and don't miss those in the dome), and past impressive old homes, then enters Lake Sylvia State Park. The majority of the walk is on hiking trails around Lake Sylvia, and through the woods surrounding the park. The 15K version also includes a cemetary and a museum. Start/End Location: Bee Hive Restaurant at 300 Main St., Montesano 360-249-4131 (Good food, and plenty of it). Driving Directions: From Interstate 5, take Exit 104 toward Aberdeen and the Ocean Beaches. Continue about 35 miles west and take the Montesano exit. Turn RIGHT at the stop sign and go several blocks to the stop light at Pioneer St. Turn RIGHT. Parking lot is on RIGHT. Start/Finish Times: Daily - Dawn to Dusk. Make sure you are done by dusk, as there are NO LIGHTS WHATEVER in the woods. Accessability/Amenities: Not possible for strollers or wheelchairs. Pets are allowed.
