CVC Seasonal Event - Montesano Slough To Slough Walk
Event: Montesano Slough To Slough Walk (Seasonal) ESVA Challenges: Grays Harbor County, All Clubs, Forests AVA Special Programs: AVA Sanction#/Distance/Rating: 91852 2012/Y0932 11K, rated 1B Dates: May 1 to September 30 (This walk will be VERY muddy during the rainy season). Description: Walk from the Preacher Slough Interpretive Trail trailhead on the south side of the Chehalis River on an old railroad grade along the Slough, through dense foliage to Blue Slough and back. As you walk through the Chehalis River flood plain interpretive signs describe the local flora and history. Early Spring and late Fall walkers will have the best views of the surrounding countryside, while summer will be cool and very leafy. Start/End Location: Bee Hive Restaurant at 300 Main St., Montesano 360-249-4131 (Good food, and plenty of it). Driving Directions: From Interstate 5, take Exit 104 toward Aberdeen and the Ocean Beaches. Continue about 35 miles west and take the Montesano exit. Turn RIGHT at the stop sign and go several blocks to the stop light at Pioneer St. Turn RIGHT. Parking lot is on RIGHT. After registering and getting directions, drive to the start point on the south side of the Chehalis River just west of Montesano. Start/Finish Times: Daily - Dawn to Dusk. Make sure you are done by dusk, as there are NO LIGHTS WHATEVER in the woods. Accessability/Amenities: Difficult for strollers, not possible for wheelchairs. Pets are allowed.
