CVC Year Round Event - Tumwater Historic Parks Walk

************************* Please Note ************************

Due to a remodeling project Safeway management required CVC to remove our two drawer file cabinet. We have replaced it with a small hand held box that is now in the customer service area. The box is on the floor between cabinets so it's hard to find and/or get to. The Safeway customer service staff will be informed that the box is there. Since the box is not secured walkers will have to mail their envelopes in, perhaps using the post office in the store.

Description: Tumwater was founded next to the falls of the Deschutes River at the south end of Puget Sound as New Market in 1846 by a group of pioneers led by Michael Simmons and George Bush. It was the first American settlement on Puget Sound. These early settlers were attracted by the water-power potential from the falls, the easy access to Budd Inlet for shipping, and the open prairie land in the area for cattle grazing. The walk goes through Tumwater Falls Park, Watershed Park, residential neighborhoods with historic homes, and the business district. The 20K option includes a portion of the Woodland Trail.

Start/Finish Times: Daily - Dawn to Dusk. Suitable for daytime walking only - Tumwater Falls Park closes at dusk. Some trails may be slippery when wet.

Accessibility/Amenities: Not possible for strollers or wheelchairs. Pets are allowed. Restrooms are at the start point and in Tumwater Historic Park. Some areas are slippery when wet, and there are remote forested areas on the route; you may prefer to have a walking partner.
